This invitational tournament is a 2 day event with 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. This year's tournament will be at Turtle Hill Golf Course in Muenster, TX.
The Silver Star Slice will take place on the back 9 of the second round.
This is a Hacker's tournament so don't be coming in here shooting 70s or better. This is a quick way to get the boot. We all suck and you should too. We play with legit handicaps to keep the game fair.
These are the governing rules for the the 3G Invitational. All rules were agreed upon with a majority vote by The Board. Any future changes must be approved by The Board with a majority vote. We can get some wings and beer and discuss it in further depth to speed up the process. Bribery works too.
Each player entry is $250. This covers lodging for 2 nights, and your Green Fees. The entry fee is required to secure your spot.
Each player must bring a nice gift which will be distributed at the conclusion of Sunday's round. Gifts should have a $30-$50 Value.
Double Par stroke limit on each hole. This helps us not suck to the fullest extent of our abilities.
Each player gets 1 mulligan per Round. Mulligans may be used on any shot, except a putt.
There is a driving range so there will be NO Breakfast Balls given.
OB is OB! Even if you're able to find your ball it will be a one stroke penalty. NO longer allowing left handed throws back into play.
Winter rules. This means you can roll your ball over on the fairway within 6 inches. This only applies on the fairway and surrounding rough. This applies if your ball lands in an area with a poor, muddy lie or accumulates a lot of mud as they roll out.
We know golf equipment isn't cheap and until the OE Brands want to sponsor our bags we will use a 2 club limit on shitty lies or impeded swings like a tree, stump, rock, cart path etc. No closer to hole. You are NOT allowed you to move your ball out of the weeds, water or other hazard. This rule only applies to a scenario where you would damage your club, not to get you out of trouble.
Each group must keep up with all player's scores. Any falsification of the scorecard will result in a 3 stroke penalty.
Play will be from white tees for all rounds.
In order to speed up play, "Gimmee Putts" will be awarded for putts less than 18 inches. If you refuse the gimme and miss the putt then the stroke counts.
Rain Rule - This is an official tournament when all players have completed 18 of the same holes. If we happen to play less than 54 holes, then the official score is determined by the number of holes that all players have completed. If less than 18 holes are completed, then all scores are negated and we will gather to play one round of 18 at a local course in DFW.
The trophy and jacket will be awarded to the winner and it will be kept for 1 year. The trophy is expected back at following year's 3G Invitational. If you are unable to attend you must get the trophy to a Board Member. Winner must make a modification to the trophy. This could be the addition of something or any repair that is necessary. Winner is also tasked with getting they're name plate put on the trophy.
Drinking Rules:
ALL PLAYERS take a shot at the BEGINNING of the back 9.
After each hole, the player or players (in the case of a tie) with the worst score on the hole, take a shot.
ALL PLAYERS take a shot at the END of the back 9 - note this is IN ADDITION to the shot taken by the worst player in the group; so the player with the worst score will essentially take 2 SHOTS on the last hole.
With the above rules, the most number of shots that a player could take is 11 (one for each hole, plus the one at the beginning and the one at the end). Sympathy shots are encouraged.
You may tap out after 3 shots, no judgement.
Closest to the pin on Hole 4 of the First Round.
Long Drive on Hole 14 of the First Round.
One Club Challenge on Hole 1 of the Second Round
First 18 - Random draw for groups and tee times
Second 18 - Random draw for groups and tee times
Third 18 - Will be grouped according to score. Lowest 4 going in last group. If there is a tie in scores that crosses groupings, the tie-break will be as follows: In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided on the most combined birdies/eagles in the first two rounds. If still a tie, most pars in the first two rounds. If still a tie, coin flip. We all suck so I doubt there will be many birdies or especially eagles.
Handicapping
We will be using The Grint App to track handicaps and scores. Everyone is Highly Encouraged to download the app ahead of time and create a profile. The app is free to use and all the features needed for the 3G Invitational are free. We will use each player's handicap to calculate the score. After 3 rounds of play your "Official 3G Handicap" will be determined and input into the leader board. Former Players have an established handicap that will be used. Each year your handicap will be adjusted after the tournament. We will follow the USGA standard of a MAX handicap of 54.
